Pinewood senior Gabe Owens advanced to the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Tennis Individual Tournament in singles with a pair of impressive wins on Tuesday at Imperial Courts in Aptos. Owens eliminated Ajith Kumar of St. Francis, 6-1, 6-2, before upending No. 2 seen Sreyas Kolachalam of Westmont, 6-0, 6-2. Casey Morris of Menlo-Atherton reached the quarterfinals before falling and teammate Reed Fratt was eliminated in the first round. Semifinals and finals will be Wednesday.
