The Menlo School boys took their first step toward winning a seventh straight title in the Central Coast Section Team Tennis Tournament with a 7-0 victory over visiting Mitty on Friday. The top-seeded Knights improved to 22-1 and next will host West Bay Athletic League foe Harker, a 4-3 winner over No. 8 Westmont. Menlo defeated Harker (17-3) twice in league play (6-1 and 7-0).
In singles, senior Victor Pham, who is set to play for Columbia next season, defeated Leon Moneda, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1. Cal-bound Gunther Matta picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Anton Gottib. Junior Lane Leschly beat Kunai Bafde, 6-0, 6-2, and Vikram Chari, headed to Vanderbilt, topped Chris Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0.
Alex Neumann and Gabriel Morgan beat Sanjay Raman and Nick Kuo, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles. Freshmen Siddharth Chari and Clark Safran took a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Anand Narayan and Kushal Singh at No. 2 doubles. Freshmen Bo Leschly and Tucker Matta defeated Calvin Le and Jack Garvey, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3.
