Pinewood's Gabe Owens captured his third straight singles title while the Menlo School tandem of seniors Vikram Chari and Gunther Matta won their first doubles crown at the West Bay Athletic League Individual Tournament on Tuesday at Menlo School. Owens wrapped up another solid tennis season by beating Harker's Ronak Baldua, 6-0, 6-3, for the title. Baldua originally played at Palo Alto High before transferring.

Matta and Chari put the finishing touches on four straight wins during the two-day tourney with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Menlo teammates Dylan Pace and Kylee Santos, who had eliminated two-time defending champs Jackson Lingane and Alex Buckley of Crystal Springs in the semifinals. The wins by Owens and the Matta-Chari tandem qualifies them for the Central Coast Section Individual Tournament next month. Matta and Chari will be looking to give Menlo its first CCS doubles championship team since 2010 when Justin Chan and Andrew Carlisle teamed for the title.
