Getting a goal from junior Jacey Pederson during stoppage time in the first half, the Palo Alto girls held on for a 1-0 soccer victory over visiting Menlo-Atherton in Central Coast Section Division I quarterfinal action Saturday. The No. 2-seeded Vikings improved to 16-2-1 and will host No. 6 Santa Teresa on Wednesday in the semifinals. The Saints 15-6) eliminated No. 3 Milpitas (17-1-3) with a 1-0 overtime decision. Menlo-Atherton, which came in seeded No. 7, finished 11-6-4. The Bears changed their offensive formation for the second half and put pressure on Paly, which got solid defensive efforts from junior Alison Lu, sophomore Lauola Amanoni, seniors Priscella Bell and Katie Foug plus Pederson.
