The Menlo School boys remained in second place in the West Bay Athletic League soccer race with a 4-3 victory over visiting King's Academy on Wednesday. Menlo's fifth straight win moved the Knights to 5-1 in league and 7-4-1 overall heading into Friday's showdown with first-place Sacred Heart Prep on the Menlo turf at 3:30 p.m.

Menlo started the game on the front foot and quickly took the lead. After an initial goal was ruled out for offside, Menlo found the breakthrough when junior forward Will Chisholm fed freshman winger Dylan Williams in the box and Williams convincingly beat the King's Academy keeper. Williams doubled his tally 10 minutes later, this time off a good pass from junior defender Matt Joss.

Williams completed his hat trick in the first minute of the second half off another pass from Chisholm. Chisholm put Menlo 4-0 ahead after a great solo effort, beating two King's defenders before putting the ball past the goalie. Menlo had to hold on late as King's battled back, scoring off a couple of set pieces and a penalty kick. Ultimately, Menlo held on for an important victory, moving them ahead of King's Academy in the league standings.
