The Titans scored enough points to win most games, but allowed twice as many points as normal while dropping their second straight nonleague game on Friday night, 60-28 to Carlmont. With Gunn blitzing frequently, the Scots countered with a passing attack of crossing routes and quick slants. That resulted in 258 yards and four touchdowns for Carlmont quarterback Craig Bartowiak. Overall, the Scots finished with 383 yards passing and six touchdowns. Gunn (0-2) was in the game early and trailed by just 14-6, but the Titans lost a pitchout and Carlmont recovered. The Scots quickly scored on a 36-yard pass play and suddenly it was a 20-6 game. The Titans battled back, putting together a drive that resulted in an 11-yard scoring run by senior Jermy Chamo with just under 10:00 left in the half. That left the Scots way too much time, resulting in two more TDs and a 35-14 halftime deficit for Gunn. The Titans had hoped to control the clock with a grind-it-out offense, but too many mistakes once again cost them. Gunn coach Matt McGinn wasn’t happy with his team’s tackling, but believes his team still can build from the defeat.
