The Menlo-Atherton girls overpowered the Half Moon Bay Cougars, 6-0, in PAL Bay Division soccer action on Tuesday. Junior Sarah McLeod got the Bears (2-1, 5-2-1) on the board first with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute. Senior Carolyn Hunt-Gonzalez initially fed the ball to McLeod, who then took a shot from the right flank. The initial shot popped back out to McLeod off a deflection from a defender, and she calmly finished for her first of two goals on the afternoon. Freshman Josephine Cotto came in off the bench midway through the half and added a second unassisted goal for the Bears in the 32nd minute. Cotto also finished her own shot after her initial attempt, which was fed by sophomore Margaret Child, bounced off the post and back to Cotto's feet. The Bears outshot the Cougars 12-0 en route to a 2-0 halftime lead.

McLeod picked off a ball from the defense in the opening minute of the second half and took it straight to the net, where she finished for her second and M-A's third goal of the game. About 10 minutes later, senior Annie Harrier fed fellow senior teammate Amanda Wiseman a beautiful ball over the middle that Wiseman placed in the back of the net. Junior Molly Briggs came off the bench and scored a goal less than a minute after entering the game when Harrier sent a great cross across from the right for Briggs to tap in just inside the back left post.

In the 60th minute, Harrier and Wiseman teamed up again when Harrier intercepted a miss-clear from the Cougars' keeper and sent it across the goal to a waiting Wiseman, who scored her second goal of the game. Wiseman was efficient -- putting away both her shots. Harrier was fantastic in creating opportunities for her teammates, logging three assists in less than a 10-minute span for the fourth, fifth and sixth goals of the game. The outmatched Cougars didn't get off a shot until the 67th minute of the game. The Bears outshot the Cougars, 26-1, for the game.
