The No. 19-ranked Gunn wrestling team opened its SCVAL De Anza Division dual-match season with a 56-21 loss to Wilcox on Thursday night. The Chargers are ranked No. 5 in the Central Coast Section. Wilcox defeated Gunn last year and ended up winning the SCVAL league tournament before finishing third at the CCS Championships.

The dual started at the 145-pound weight class and it went back and forth for the first four weights with both teams registering two pins each. After that, the Chargers settled in and won the next seven in a row. Gunn’s inexperience was evident and the Titans could not make up the difference. Gunn senior captain Ian Cramer (152) continued his undefeated streak (11-0) and registered his ninth pin of the season. Cramer is ranked No. 1 in his weight class in the CCS.
