Palo Alto visited rival Gunn Saturday afternoon for Palo Alto's first game of 2015 and Gunn's second 2015 match. Palo Alto started sharply with Gunn's defense working hard to break up attacks. However in the 5th minute Jacey Pederson got behind the Gunn defense and Nika Woodfill collected the cross with her first touch and with her second touch scored. In the 11th minute Paly had a free kick just outside the penalty area, Jacey Pederson got the ball up over the Gunn wall and just under the crossbar doubling Paly's advantage. A minute later Katie Foug collected a loose ball, created space and scored. Near the end of the half Jacey Pederson was running at the defense and was brought down in the penalty area. Jacey scored on the resulting penalty kick, even though the Gunn keeper, Liz Cromarty, dove the right direction and got a hand on the ball. In the second half Palo Alto continued maintaining possession but Gunn defended well until the 64th minute. Nika Woodfill settled a rebound off a defender and scored. Paly finished the scoring in the 80th minute when Natalie Maloney sent Tess Preising through; Tess's shot hit the near post, rolled across the goal line, hit the far post and spun in for Paly's final tally.
