The greatest football season in Sacred Heart Prep history was achieved on Friday night as the top-seeded Gators defeated No. 7 Bellarmine, 14-0, in the championship game of the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs at San Jose City College. Senior two-way standout Ben Burr-Kirven scored on a three-run run in the third quarter and ran one in from two yards out in the fourth period to give the Gators a 13-0 record. He finished with 95 rushing yards on 26 carries. Late interceptions by John Van Sweden and Mitch Martella helped kill Bellarmine's hopes as the Bells fell to 10-3. Both teams missed field goals in the final four minutes of the first half and Bellarmine had a 49-yard touchdown called back by a penalty before intermission.
