Stanford grad Rachel Buehler made her first Olympic start and contributed an assist as the U.S. women's soccer team downed New Zealand, 4-0, to advance to the quarterfinals as the top team from Group G. Japan's stunning 5-1 win over Norway knocked the Norwegians, who beat the U.S. in the first match of pool play, out of contention. The Americans play Canada in the quarterfinals. Stanford junior Ali Riley played the entire game for New Zealand.
