Junior Jose Patino made up for missing an earlier PAT by kicking a 32-yard field goal with under 30 seconds to play to lift visiting Palo Alto to a 30-28 nonleague football win over host Sequoia on Friday night. The victory provided new head coach Jake Halas with his first coaching victory while giving the Vikings their seventh straight triumph over the Cherokees. Palo Alto is now 11-2 against Sequoia in the past 13 games and has won nine of the past 10. The season opener for both teams also was the 75th time the teams have met.
