Palo Alto Post 375 kept its title hopes alive in the American Legion Area 2 Tournament at Baylands Athletic Center with a 9-7 victory over San Carlos on Monday in a consolation-bracket game. With the game tied at 6 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Palo Alto's Kyle Einfalt blooped a single into right field with the bases loaded. When the ball dropped in front of a diving right fielder, all three runs scored to give Post 375 a 9-6 lead that held up. Palo Alto will face defending champion San Mateo on Tuesday in the consolation-bracket semifinals at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to Wednesday's championship game at 4:30 p.m., needing to win two games to advance to the American Legion State Tournament in Yountville.
