Stanford grad Brooke Bishop qualified for the semifinals of the women's 50 free at the U.S. Olympic trials on Saturday at QWest Center in Omaha, Neb. Palo Alto's Liv Jensen was nearly as impressive. Bishop swam 25.40 for the seventh-best time of the prelims. Jensen finished 17th in 25.67, .05 from qualifying for the semifinals and .05 from her personal best. Jensen is the Central Coast Section record holder in the 50-yard free, overtaking Bishop's mark set five years previously. Both Bishop and Jensen represent Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics. Stanford sophomore Kate Dwelley finished 28th in 25.89 and Cardinal senior Fiona O'Donnell-McCarthy was 43rd in 26.27. There were 88 swimmers in the event.
