Stanford junior Elaine Breeden finally grabbed the gold. She won the 200 breast in 2:06.75 on Thursday in the finals of the event at the U.S. Olympic trials in Omaha. Breeden earned the silver medal in the 100 fly earlier in the week. Olympic gold medalist and Stanford grad Misty Hyman, the American record holder in the 200 fly, was in attendance for Breeden's effort. Breeden led from start to finish after also swimming the fastest times in the prelims and semifinals on Wednesday. "My 100 fly felt great and I knew if I just focused on that and keep my stroke the 200 fly would have a good result too," Breeden said. "It was an unbelievable heat and a fast event."
