Smit 100 free, Olympic trials

Stanford junior Julia Smit qualified for the semifinals of the women's 100 free at the U.S. Olympic trials in Omaha on Thursday. She swam 54.95 in the prelims, matching Katie Hoff's mark for eighth-best. Cardinal freshman Kate Dwelley was 20th in 55.61 while Palo Alto's Liv Jensen went 56.19 for 40th. Stanford seniors Madeline Rovira finished 72nd in 57.10 and Fiona O'Donnell-McCarthy finished 97th in 58.23.
