Toby Gerhart's home run gave Stanford a 2-0 lead. Brent Milleville's home run put the Stanford baseball team ahead, 16-5. And to think, the game was tied after eight innings. The Cardinal (40-22) beat Florida State, 16-5, in the first game of the College World Series on Saturday in Omaha. Stanford plays the winner of a later game between Georgia and Miami on Monday at 4 p.m. Drew Storen (4-3) gave up a game-tying home run but got the win when the Cardinal scored 11 runs in the ninth, matching the College World Series record. Stanford starter Jeremy Bleich pitched five solid innings, allowing one run on six hits. He walked two and struck ouy seven.
