Cord Phelps had three hits and drove in three runs, and Joey August added three hits and two RBI as the Stanford baseball team defeated host Washington, 8-5, in a Pac-10 contest on Saturday. The victory guarantees at least a tie for second place, and means a good probability of hosting one of the 16 NCAA regional tournaments next weekend. Danny Sandbrink (1-1) pitched 4 1-3 innings in relief to earn the win. He did not allow a hit until the ninth. Drew Storen got the final out for his sixth save. Sean Ratliff led off the ninth with his 18th home run of the season. Stanford (14-9, 33-20) and Washington finish the regular season with a 1 p.m. game in Seattle on Sunday.
