While the Menlo-Atherton boys are off to one of their best starts, having beaten Bellarmine and St. Francis, the Bears still are No. 2 in the neighborhood after dropping a 7-0 nonleague tennis decision to Atherton rival Menlo School on Wednesday. The Knights (12-3) swept the singles in orderly fashion behind Victor Pham, Lane Leschly, David Ball and Vikram Chari. In doubles, only the No. 2 tandem of Gabriel Morgan and Michael Quezada was pushed to a third set as Menlo coach Bill Shine improved to 419-45 in his 18th year with the Knights.
