It was a banner day of play for the Lady Oaks on Saturday, picking up two wins in exciting fashion. In game one, Menlo needed some late-game dramatics to force extra innings and secure a come-from-behind win over University of Antelope Valley (0-14). In game two, a gem of a pitching performance from Kelly Hager and three solo home runs propelled Menlo to a 3-1 win over No. 25 Oregon Tech to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Game one: Menlo 8 UAV 7 (8 innings)
Menlo had a scare in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against University of Antelope Valley. Leading 3-0 after a three-run bottom of the first, Menlo surrendered five runs to UAV in the top of the fifth to make it 5-3. Menlo quickly answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to tie it up 5-5 where it would remain until the top of the fifth. In the fifth UAV scored to make it 6-5 then added another in the sixth to hold a 7-5 lead heading into Menlo's final at bat.

In the seventh, Menlo scored two to force extras and won in walk-off fashion with a run in the eighth. They had seven hits in the win including a home run, the first of the season, for Stephanie Gilbert. Nicole Larson was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs and Jessica Soliai was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Tricia Davidson picked up the win, tossing seven innings allowing 6 runs on two walks, striking out one. Maya Varela took the loss for her 6.2 innings of work in which she allowed three runs on four hits with two strike outs.

Game two: Menlo 3 OIT 1
A complete game gem from sophomore Kelly Hager was the difference maker in a 3-1 game two win over No. 25 Oregon Tech. Hager allowed just one run (unearned) on five hits in seven innings of work, striking out three and walking just one. The win improves Hager to 3-3 on the season.

The long ball was the key source of offense for Menlo with all three of its runs coming via solo shots. Kayla Cisneroz, Mary Hall and Stephanie Gilbert went deep in the win. Gilbert's home run was her second of the day. Cisneroz, Jessica Soliai and Nicole Larson each provided two hits to the Menlo offensive attack that totaled eight hits for the game.

Menlo returns to the road next week as they travel cross-country for a slate of games in Florida. They begin play on Wednesday, March 12 with a doubleheader against Northwood University.
