The Menlo School girls advanced to the championship match of the Central Coast Section Division III soccer playoffs with a 2-0 victory over West Bay Athletic League rival Priory on Wednesday night at Milpitas High. The top-seeded Knights (17-3-2) will face another WBAL rival, No. 6 Sacred Heart Prep (19-2-2), in Saturday's section title match at Valley Christian in San Jose at 6 p.m. Menlo and SHP faced each other twice during the regular season, with the Knights winning the second meeting after the teams tied in the first. This will be the first time the Atherton neighbors have faced off in a CCS finale. Menlo won the title in 2012 and SHP took the crown in 2009.
Menlo School senior Sienna Stritter delivered two second-half goals less than a minute apart to pace the victory. In the 51st minute, Stritter followed Amanda McFarland's shot for a rebound goal. Moments later, senior Chandler Wickers fed Stritter for the insurance goal in the 52nd minute.
