The Pinewood girls wrapped up their soccer season with a 4-1 loss to visiting King's Academy on Monday in West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) action in Los Altos Hills. Amrita Mecker scored Pinewood's goal in the 57th minute. The Panthers finished 2-10 in league (3-17 overall) and face a return to the Skyline Division next season.
"Overall, a disappointing season since our established goal was to NOT have to move down to the Skyline Division again," said Pinewood coach Michael Tetzlaff. "Quality-wise, we certainly proved at times that we belong in the Foothill Division, but simply did not have enough bodies to field a competitive team at times. We had to forfeit two games because we had only nine players who were healthy and ready to play. At other times, we had 11 players -- even 12 -- but some of the starters were playing hurt. We'll be back bigger and better and, hopefully, with a bigger roster than this season's 13 players."
