Stanford junior outside hitter Erin Waller had a key kill and a key block in the fifth game as the second-ranked Cardinal (11-0) rallied from a game down to beat third-ranked Penn State (8-2), 30-23, 23-30, 27-30, 30-28, 15-9, on Saturday in the final game of the Yale Classic in New Haven. Junior outside hitter Cynthia Barboza had 21 kills and 10 digs while junior middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo had 15 kills and freshman outside hitter Alix Klineman added 14 kills. Senior setter Bryn Kehoe registered 61 assists and 12 digs. Penn State closed to within 8-7 in the fifth game before Waller had a kill and a block in successive points to give Stanford a 10-7 edge. The Nittany Lions never got any closer.
