Stanford graduate Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts led the second-biggest comeback in NFL history in a wild, 45-44 wild-card victory over visiting Kansas City on Saturday. The second-year quarterback rallied the Colts from a 28-point third-quarter deficit to eliminate the Chiefs. Luck completed 29 passes for 443 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 45 yards. Former Stanford teammates Coby Fleener and Griff Whalen helped out as Fleener caught five passes for 54 yards and Whalen had two receptions for 26 yards. The deciding TD came on a 64-yard pass from Luck to T.Y. Hilton with 4:21 left in the game. Only the Buffalo Bills' climb from a 32-point hole to beat the Houston Oilers. 41-38, in overtime Jan. 3, 1993 proved a greater playoff comeback.
Down 38-10 at one point in the third quarter and having committed four turnovers in the game, the Colts refused to go away while embarking on a 35-13 second half run to extend the season at least another week.
