Menlo School rallied in the second half to defeat visiting Mountain View in girls' nonleague soccer action, 1-0, Thursday. The Knights (2-1-1) got the game's lone goal in the 34th minute of the second half. Junior Jamie Corley's cross found a hustling senior Emma LaPorte near the goal. LaPorte collided with the goalkeeper, but managed to get the ball to senior Leah Swig, who scored from five yards out. Sophomore keeper Schuyler Tilney-Volk was outstanding in goal with 16 saves. Menlo's back line of junior Tess Batchelder, freshman Claire McFarland, junior Lizzie Lacy, junior Katie Keller, and sophomore Zoe Enright all performed well under a lot of pressure from the Mountain View attack. Senior Amanda McFarland excelled in the midfield and senior Chandler Wickers had a strong second half.
