With starting quarterback Jack Heneghan sidelined by injury, No. 4-seeded Menlo School fell to No. 5 Monterey, 30-12, in a Central Coast Section Division IV football opener on Friday night at Sequoia High in Redwood City. Monterey grabbed a 30-6 lead before Menlo QB Austin D'Ambra connected with Travis Chambers on an 80-yard scoring play in the waning seconds. The two hooked up on a 63-yard scoring play early on to get the Knights (6-5) on the scoreboard. Monterey (8-3) will face the winner of Saturday's Sacred Heart Prep-Seaside game in next week's semifinals.
