With Andreas Katsis scoring four goals and goalie John Wilson coming up with 16 saves, No. 2-seeded Menlo School advanced to the championship match of the Central Coast Section Division II boys' water polo playoffs with an 11-4 victory over No. 3 St. Ignatius (19-8) on Wednesday night at Serra High. The Knights (23-3) earned their first trip to the section finals since 2010 and will be looking for a sixth crown since coach Jack Bowen took over in 2000. Menlo will face No. 1 seed Sacred Heart Prep (25-3), a 16-8 winner over Soquel in the other semifinal. When Menlo last won a CCS title, it did so by beating SHP, 11-5. The local rivals will meet for the first time this season on at the George F. Haines International Swim Center at 10 a.m.

Menlo came out against SI exhibiting its typical team-oriented defense that was anchored by Wilson. Among his saves were a number of point-blank shots and a penalty shot. He also had a team-high three. Menlo had eight different players with assists while five scored goals, five earned ejections, and six had steals.
