The Menlo School girls reached their first Central Coast Section Team Tournament title match in tennis since 2006 with a 4-3 semifinal victory over No. 5 seed St. Ignatius (19-4) on Monday at Courtside Club in Los Gatos. With the match tied, Menlo's No. 4 singles player, Helena Ong, secured a victory and the Knights clinched a berth in the CIF NorCal Tournament beginning Friday.

The top-seeded Knights (24-1) will shoot for their first section crown since 2005 when they take on No. 3 Monta Vista (20-5) on Wednesday, also at Courtside, at 1:30 p.m. The Matadors advanced with a 5-2 win over No. 7 seed Palo Alto on Monday. Menlo has been eliminated by Monta Vista the past three years, all three in the semifinals. The last time the Knights claimed a CCS title, they defeated Monta Vista, 4-3. Menlo will be seeking its eighth section crown.
