Taking advantage of a Monta Vista team hit by injuries, Menlo School grabbed a 4-3 nonleague girls' tennis victory over the host Matadors on Monday. The Knights improved to 19-1 overall by winning their 16th straight and avenging a loss to Monta Vista in last year's CCS Team Tournament. Christine Eliazo at No. 2 and Helena Ong at No. 4 singles won in three sets to provide the deciding points. Ong's 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Laura Cao wrapped up the win over the defending CCS and NorCal champion.

Menlo coach Bill Shine acknowledged that Monta Vista was shorthanded, "but this might be his lineup for postseason," Shine said. "It has been awhile since we have beat them and it feels good."
