Nationally No. 10-ranked Stanford ran its win streak to a season-high five games with a 4-1 baseball victory over UCLA (18-15, 3-4 Pac-10) in the opener of a three-game Pac-10 series at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Friday. The victory, combined with Arizona State's 6-4 loss to Oregon State in Tempe, moved the Cardinal (7-3, 20-11-1) into sole possession of first place in the Pac-10. Stanford scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning before the Bruins (3-4, 18-15) could record an out, and then rode the pitching trio of Austin Yount, David Stringer and Drew Storen to the victory. Stringer, a Palo Alto High grad, got the victory with two-plus innings of two-hit ball. He struck out four. Brent Milleville had two his and two RBI for the Cardinal.
