The Sacred Heart Prep boys water polo team advanced to the semifinals of the S & R Sport Tournament with a pair of big victories Friday at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine. The Gators (13-1) will face Newport Harbor in semifinals at 12:10 p.m. Newport defeated Acalanes and Miramonte to reach the semis. Newport is ranked No. 2 in Orange County and No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division I.

"They are the only team we have lost to this season, so far," said SHP coach Brian Kreutzkamp. "We lost, 8-7, in overtime at the Santa Barbara tourney."

SHP opened the tourney with a 16-5 romp over host Irvine as junior Michael Swart tallied seven goals and junior Nelson Perla-Ward added five. In the quarterfinals, senior Harrison Enright led the way with four goals while Perla-Ward and Swart each added three. Goalie Philippe Marco had 10 saves in the second game.
