Freshman Ashley Chinn pitched a five-inning no-hitter as the Stanford softball team downed visiting Santa Clara, 12-0, in a nonconference game on Tuesday night. Chinn struck out six and did not walk a batter. She retired the first 14 ib succession before an error allowed a Bronco baserunner. The Cardinal (38-7) hosts California on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. and travels to Cal on Sunday for a 1 p.m. game in Pac-10 action.
