Notes: The United States defeated St. Lucia, 25-12, 25-10, 25-11, on Monday night. With Tuesday’s win, the Americans qualified for the quarterfinal round on Thursday. Their opponents will be decided following Wednesday’s competition . . . Stanford grad Erik Shoji is the starting libero for the U.S. and Cardinal grad Matt Fuerbringer serves as the assistant coach to John Speraw . . . The U.S. has finished second in the past two NORCECA championships. The Americans won in 2003, 2005 and 2207. They have reached the championship match in each of the previous 11 events.
