Menlo College split two matches on the final day of the Menlo Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
After beating No. 20 Cal State San Marcos in five sets during the morning session, the Lady Oaks (4-3) dropped a four-set match to Wayland Baptist.
The Pioneers won, 18-25, 25-23, 17-25, 22-25, in the evening as Menlo finished 2-2 in the tournament.
Menlo was led by Courtney Calicdan's match-leading 15 kills. Nicole Yap was close behind with 14 kills.
Menlo returns to action on Friday, hosting Mills College at 7 pm.
Against Cal State San Marcus, Menlo escaped with a 25-14, 26-28, 25-19, 10-25, 15-13 victory.
Freshman Renn Isobe was outstanding on the defensive end for Menlo. She led the match with an impressive 26 digs. Calicdan and Yap had 19 kills and 18 kills respectively.
"We were competitive from start to finish," Menlo coach Atlee Hubbard said. "Our defensive paid attention and anticipated CSUSM's plays. Offensively we made plays when it really counted. I'm proud of our effort."
