Matt Glomb and Dane Vande Guchte each drove in runs but the Menlo Park Legends dropped a heart-breaking 3-2 decision to Top Speed Baseball in the Far Western League playoffs on Saturday.

Legends starter D.J. Zapata took a shutout into the sixth inning and then coughed up a two-run homer to league MVP Tyler Mauthel.

Zapata pitched the first 6 1-3 innings before Mike Dodakian, one of the heroes of Friday’s 2-1 win over the Humboldt Crabs, took over.

The Legends had runners in scoring position on several occasions but could not produce the go-ahead run. The game remained tied into the bottom of the ninth, when Top Speed got a walk-off double.
