FINA World Championships , Stanford's DiRado 12th in 200 fly
Date of competition: Wednesday, July 31, 2013
Stanford senior Maya DiRado swam a lifetime best in the 200-meter butterfly, but her effort in the semifinals was only the 12th best on Wednesday at the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. DiRado sped to a 2:08.28 clocking, ranking her No. 12 in the world and No. 2 in the U.S. this season. Yet, it took a 2:07.86 to qualify for Thursday's finals. DiRado still has the 800 free relay on Saturday and the 400 IM on Sunday.
