The U.S. Women’s Junior National Volleyball Team defeated Mexico 29-27, 19-25, 27-25, 25-22 on Monday to win its first match during Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship in Brno, Czech Republic.

Andie Malloy led the United States with 17 points via 15 kills on 47 attacks and two aces. Merete Lutz chipped in 13 points with eight kills on 17 swings and team-high five blocks. Chanell Clark-Bibbs added nine kills on 19 attacks and four blocks for 13 points. Jordan Burgess collected 12 kills on 44 attacks in the victory.

Kelsey Humphreys, who started at opposite before transitioning to setter in the third set, totaled six kills on 17 attacks and an ace for the U.S. Amber Rolfzen, who came off the bench in the middle of the third set to play opposite, charted three kills on eight attacks, one block and one ace for five points. Nicole Edelman rounded out the scoring with a kill.

Caitlin Nolan provided the Americans with 22 digs and 23 excellent receptions on 24 attempts. Burgess added 12 digs and 33 excellent receptions on 34 attempts. Edelman tallied 16 running sets on 88 sets, while Humphreys added six running sets on 47 attempts.
