The top-seeded Menlo School boys' tennis team won its fifth straight Central Coast Section Team Tournament championship and 12th overall with a 13-5 victory over No. 3 Serra on Friday at Courtside Club in Los Gatos. The Knights improved to 24-1 while the Padres dropped to 19-2 after competing in their first-ever section title match. Menlo coach Bill Shine improved his record to 403-42 in his 17th season with the Knights, who next will join Serra in the CIF NorCal Championships in Sacramento next week.

Menlo grabbed a 4-2 lead after the first rotation in the three singles, three doubles format. The Knights increased their advantage to 9-3 after the second before senior Daniel Morkovine posted a 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles to give Menlo its 10th and clinching point while the five other matches were still being played.
