Menlo School junior Maddy Price ran herself among the state leaders while winning the 200 and 400 at the annual CCS Top 8 Invitational track and field meet Friday night at San Jose City College. Price won the 200 in a CCS-leading 24.50, which ranks her No. 5 in the state and makes her the No. 2 junior. The state leader is Ariana Washington of Long Beach Poly at 23.34. The Menlo record is 23.93, set by Dameisha Craig in 1997.

Price also won the 400 in a meet record and CCS-leading 55.67, making her No. 4 in the state (and the No. 1 junior). The state leader is Nia Dorner of Cordova in 54.54. The time also broke the Menlo record set in 2005 by Libby Jenke and established a personal best for Price, who ran 55.85 and 55.94 at the JO Nationals last summer while she was running for the Menlo iGreyhounds TC.

Gunn junior Sarah Robinson nearly pulled off a big double after winning the 1,600 in 4:48.80. She came back to take third in the 800 in 2:14.44 as Vanessa Maxwell of San Lorenzo Valley ran a state-leading 2:09.34.

Maya Miklos of Gunn helped the Titans finish second in the team race with 45 points as she won the 300 hurdles in 44.85, the No. 2 time in school history. Fellow freshman Gillian Meeks ran fourth in the 3,200 in 11:02.03. Teammate Kirsten Baird was third in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the long jump with a season best of 16-5 3/4. The Gunn girls' 400 relay team also clocked a season best of 49.71 to finish fourth.
