Simpson made the trip to Atherton and left with a doubleheader split for the second time this year.
Justine Roscoe was solid for Menlo in the first game, going the distance, allowing just four runs on six hits for her ninth win of the season.
In game two, a four-run inning late in the game led the Lady Oaks to a 4-1 loss.
Game One:
Menlo jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in the 6-4 win in the front end of the doubleheader on Saturday. The Lady Oaks scored a run in the first when Mary Hall led off with a home run, her third of the season.
Simpson tied the game in the fifth, but Menlo answered with a pair of runs in the fifth to regain the lead 3-1. Ululani Reyes led off the fifth with a double to right. Sara Pedretti was up next and laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the throw was errant, scoring Reyes and moving Pedretti to third. Emmeline Wang later brought Pedretti in with a sacrifice fly.
Menlo tacked on three more important insurance runs in the sixth inning when they pounded out four hits in the inning to plate the three runs and give the Lady Oaks the 6-1 lead. Alyssa Holland, Kayla Cisneroz, Jessica Soliai, and Nicole Larson each had hits.
Things got interesting in Simpson's last at-bat in the seventh. The Red Hawks put two runners on base to lead off the inning and Morgan Davis poked one over the fence to cut the lead to 6-4. Despite the three-run homer, Roscoe settled down and retired the side to secure the win.
