Junior shortstop Maddy Coon cracked a triple and a homer to account for all three Cardinal RBI, lifting the No. 7 Stanford softball team (33-5) to a 3-0 nonconference victory over host Sacramento State (18-13) on Wednesday. tadium in Sacramento. The win is Stanford's 17th shutout of the season. Junior pitcher Missy Penna (22-4) went six innings and struck out eight before being relieved by freshman Ashley Chinn in the seventh inning. Chinn fanned two of the four batters she faced, earning her first career save. Stanford outhit Sacramento State, 4-2, and Coon went 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead the Cardinal offense. The junior shortstop also walked twice in the game, boosting what was already a record walk total to 37 on the year.
