It was a tale of two games on Friday afternoon for the Menlo Lady Oaks softball team as they returned to CalPac play against William Jessup.
In game one, Justine Roscoe allowed just one run on six hits to earn the complete game win.
In game two, William Jessup scored early and often en route to an 11-3 five inning victory to secure the double header split.
The split on Friday puts the season series at an even 2-2 between these two teams. Menlo moves to 14-18 (3-3) while William Jessup is 21-13 (3-5).
Roscoe and the Menlo defense silenced the bats of the Warriors, and scored early and often on the offensive end. The Lady Oaks wasted no time getting on the board, scoring a run in the first to take the 1-0 lead. Menlo score another run in the third before William Jessup answered with their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
Leading 3-1, the Lady Oaks added insurance runs with two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Roscoe handled it from there. The Menlo junior earned her eighth win of the season while tossing her fifth complete game. Emily Buhrkuhl took the loss allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits, striking out one and walking one.
Three Menlo hitters notched two hits on the day including: Mary Hall, Alyssa Holland, and Jessica Soliai. Kayla Cisneroz doubled and Nicole Larson homered for Menlo’s only extra base hits.
