The Palo Alto boys' track and field team kept its hopes alive for a perfect dual-meet season in the SCVAL De Anza Division with a closer-than-expected 65-62 victory over Los Altos on the Eagles' field Tuesday. The meet went down to the final event, the 1,600 relay, which Palo Alto won easily in a season-best 3:29.65. The Vikings (3-0) had to overcome sweeps by Los Altos in the 1,600 and 3,200 by sweeping the 100, 200 and winning both relays. The best mark of the day was turned in by Palo Alto's Victor Du, who leaped a personal-best 23-3 to win the long jump with the best mark in the Central Coast Section this season and one of the best marks in school history.
