The Menlo School boys' soccer team beat visiting Harker, 4-1, to wrap up a strong opening week of West Bay Athletic League play. Harker started the game well, scoring the opening goal in the eighth minute after some nice combination play in midfield. From there Harker created several chances and were unfortunate not to add a second goal.

As the half progressed Menlo (2-0, 5-2-1) settled into the game. In the 22nd minute, senior Nick Batchelder won possession in midfield and set senior tri-captain Max Parker loose down the right wing. Parker crossed the ball to junior John Strong, who found senior Ryan Karle at the top of the box. Karle beat his defender and scored.

Just a few minutes later, the Knights were on top after a great individual effort from Karle. He nipped the ball of a Harker defender and again slotted a stinging effort into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. Menlo started the second half the way they ended the first half and soon put the game out of reach. A few minutes into the half, Harker failed to deal with a corner which fell to freshman Andrew Arnold at the top of the box. Arnold found sophomore Kyle Perez on the wing and Perez served a precise cross to Parker, who finished with a superb diving header. Parker added another 10 minutes later after a great pass from Batchelder sent him in on goal.
