A split on the opening day of the NCS vs. CCS Challenge will leave the Menlo School boys' water polo team playing for no better than ninth place on Saturday at Acalanes High in the East Bay. The Knights (5-4) dropped an 11-6 opener to Las Lomas, which put them in the consolation bracket against Mountain View in the afternoon. Getting three goals from Derrick Ho and Chris Xi, the Knights posted a 10-7 victory. Menlo will stay at Acalanes High on Saturday for the ninth through 15th-place games.
