JV Girls Water Polo
Palo Alto 11, Los Altos 3
Date of competition: Thursday, September 27, 2012
The Paly JV Lady Vikes Water Polo team continued it's hot streak against a tough Los Altos team on Thursday. They came into the game carrying a 5-0 record and extended that streak to an impressive 6-0! Sophomore Olivia Scola opened the scoring with a breakaway counter-attack goal to make it 1-0 (Scola continued her dominance at the 2 Meter position, adding two additional goals late in the second quarter). Sophomore Olivia Vort then followed up with a goal under defensive pressure, to make it 2-0 PALY. The next two goals were both scored by Sophomore Jacqueline Furrier, the second a long shot from mid-pool. Freshman Keeper Meredith Kinnaman shut down the Los Altos offense to zero goals in the first half. In the second quarter, Gigi Rojahn added a goal to make it 5-0 Paly. The third quarter brought more of the same with Freshman Claire Drebbin adding a goal for PALY. It wasn't until the third quarter that Los Altos scored their first goal. In the fourth quarter it was a perfectly timed pass by sophomore Paige Anderson to Claire Drebbin to make it 9-1. Claire added another goal on a penalty shot and her sister Alina Drebbin, also a Freshman, scored the final goal for a final score of 11-3 in favor of PALY. Their next game will be against their main rival Gunn.
