The 24th-ranked Texas softball team handed Stanford its first loss of the season, beating the Cardinal, 3-1, on Sunday in the final game of the Palm Springs Classic. Missy Penna allowed just four hits, but one was a two-run homer in the fifth that snapped a 1-1 tie. The Cardinal (15-1) hosts Providence on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
