Castilleja advanced to its first Central Coast Section girls' soccer playoff appearance since 2007 with a 7-1 win over visiting Crystal Springs-Uplands in the West Bay Athletic League playoffs on Thursday at Mayfield Soccer Complex. The Gators (6-10-2) qualified by finishing fourth in the Foothill Division while Crystal Springs (15-0-1) reached the playoff by winning the Skyline Division.
Senior captain Emily Mosbacher led Castilleja with three goals and an assist, senior captain Martha Harding notched a goal and an assist, and senior captain Caitlin Colvin added an assist. Junior Katherine Hobbs tallied two goals and an assist, sophomore Gabby Kaplan added a goal and an assist and Junior Alanna MacNaughtan also notched an assist. CSU's lone goal came in the first half on a deflected shot.
Castilleja's three seniors making their CCS tournament debut present a powerful offense. Mosbacher tallied a division-leading 17 goals and nine assists. Harding and Colvin added another nine goals and 11 assists while Junior Hobbs and sophomore Kaplan added another 17 goals and 15 assists.
