The Priory girls' soccer team forced the West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) race to come down to the final day after defeating visiting King's Academy, 2-0, on Saturday in Portola Valley. The Panthers (9-2, 14-4-2) held on to second place with 27 points while Menlo (10-1, 12-4-2) remains in first with 30 points. Had Priory tied or lost, Menlo would have claimed the title.
Priory senior Darrah Shields prevented Menlo from clinching by scoring both goals. She scored on a header off a corner by Sarah Zuckerman in the 69th minute and again in the 75th on an unassisted tally from about 25 yards out that knuckled through the keepers' hands to make it a Senior Day to celebrate.
