Palo Alto senior Matt Nguyen followed in a corner kick in the 86th minute as the No. 8-seeded Vikings defeated No. 5 St. Francis, 2-1, in double overtime in the Central Coast Section Division II boys' soccer semifinals Wednesday at Milpitas High. Palo Alto (14-4-6) will play No. 2 Pajaro Valley, a 2-1 winner over No. 15 Gonzales in the second semifinal on Wednesday, in Friday's title match at Milpitas High at 4:30 p.m. The Vikings will be playing in the CCS Division II championship match for the second straight season. The Vikings dropped a 3-1 decision to Gonzales in last season's title match. Paly grabbed a 1-0 lead against St. Francis in the 11th minute on a goal by sophomore Jenner Fox. The Lancers (14-4-5) tied things up in the second half, sending the match to a pair of 10-minute mandatory overtime periods. Paly produced the deciding goal when junior midfielder Adam Zernik sent a corner kick into the penalty box, with Nguyen eventually knocking it home.
